Yellowstone National Park recently gave notice that it will be eliminating snowmobiles by the year 2003 from its boundaries. Yellowstone N.P. is our nations first national park. The decision has sparked controversy with Wyoming citizens, its legislators, and the snowmobile industry. Yellowstone N.P. claims it negatively effects wildlife and other users. Supporters of snowmobile use would like a chance to show they can make and use a quieter, cleaner machine. Snowmobile users claim a complete ban in not necessary.
